Headteacher Welcome
I am extremely proud to be the Headteacher of William Farr Church of England Comprehensive School and, on behalf of everyone connected to the school, I would like to welcome you to our community.
William Farr, the local vicar, purchased the site of the former RAF Dunholme Lodge with the vision of establishing a school for the surrounding communities and he would, I am sure, be proud of the school and what it has become since its founding in 1952, and now providing a rounded and rich education for more than 1,500 students. Key to the success of the school has been its Christian distinctiveness.
We want our students to “engage in life in all its fullness” (John 10:10) and, to this end, we educate the whole child so that they leave the school as informed and articulate citizens, ready to make their mark on the world.
Our House values of Compassion, Friendship, Perseverance, Respect, Responsibility and Wisdom shape the education of every child in the school and we are proud of the young adults they become. They achieve this by their hard work and engagement in our broad and balanced curriculum, which is complemented by a vast number of extra-curricular activities designed to strengthen character and broaden minds.
My expectations are quite simple; work hard, try your best and be polite. Do those three things and everything falls into place, both at school and in the real world.
Your child will be safe and valued at William Farr and, by the time they leave us, they will be ready to face the challenges of an ever-changing world.
