TITLE: Level 3 AAQ Cambridge Advanced National in Health & Social Care (Extended Certificate)
COURSE INFORMATION
Topic covered will include anatomy and physiology for health and social care, supporting people with mental health conditions, health and safety, legislation and many more. You will study four mandatory units and two optional units.
Unit F090: Principles of Health and Social Care– examined unit
You will learn about how you can support equality, diversity and rights in health and social care settings. Also, about types of discriminatory practice and potential hazards, along with legislation that helps to keep individuals safe by identifying and supporting rights, duties, and responsibilities in care settings.
Unit F091: Anatomy and Physiology for Health and Social Care– examined unit
You will explore the arrangements of body systems and the structure and function of the component parts. You will learn about key processes within each body system, that enable them to function properly. You will then explore conditions affecting these systems, specifically learning about the biological basis, monitoring, treatment and impact on lifestyle and independence.
Unit F092: Person-centred Approach to Care – coursework unit
This unit introduces you to the values and issues that need to be considered when planning care and support that meet the needs of an individual in a health and social care environment, such as potential ethical issues and challenges that can arise when personalising care. Also, the importance of multi-agency working in providing a package of care and support that meets all the needs of individuals.
Unit F093: Supporting People with Mental Health Conditions – coursework unit
You will explore how individuals with mental health conditions can be cared for and supported in a way which is suitable for their needs. You will explore the meaning of mental health, mental health needs, and look into the main types of mental health conditions, including how these may affect the life of individuals. Also, you will explore the different ways that individuals may be supported to promote their mental wellbeing, manage their condition, including different forms of treatment and support available.
ASSESSMENT STRUCTURE
The course is assessed through a mix of examinations and coursework assignments. 60% is coursework based and this may take the form of written work, power point presentations etc. 40% of the assessments will involve taking two examinations, both are paper-based exams and are 90 minutes long.
